Purpose

ENGiOS Legal defines the product boundary for contract management, digital signature workflows, professional responsibility documentation (ART/RRT), and future Docuseal integration. It turns legal and compliance obligations into governed, traceable operating records inside the same platform used for engineering delivery.

What it governs

This module governs contract lifecycle management, digital signature orchestration, ART/RRT emission and tracking, and the compliance record path for engineering projects. The documentation explains why legal traceability matters for engineering operations and how it connects delivery accountability with institutional compliance.

Active capability areas

Active capability areas include contract creation and lifecycle states, digital signature workflows via Docuseal, ART/RRT record management tied to engineering projects, and compliance document storage with version control. These are described as operating capabilities, not as legal advice or regulatory interpretation.

Operational signals

The module creates decision signals around contract status, signature completion, ART/RRT issuance deadlines, and compliance document readiness. Public documentation describes these signals in operational language so stakeholders understand the legal workflow without needing access to internal compliance systems.

The module relates to ENGiOS Engineering for project and document associations, ENGiOS Commercial for contract origination from proposal approvals, and ENGiOS Core for access control over sensitive legal records.

Technical posture

The technical posture is controlled disclosure. The docs may mention service families, governed document flow, integration with Docuseal, and review surfaces, but they must not publish contract content, signature credentials, internal legal interpretations, or regulatory filing details.

What is intentionally out of scope

This module does not currently promise automated legal advice, real-time regulatory monitoring, or full law firm case management. Those items remain future scope or external integrations until explicitly productized within the ENGiOS roadmap.

Future direction

The next pass should add operator-level examples of contract lifecycle flows, ART/RRT issuance patterns, and the Docuseal integration path once the legal service layer is ready to be documented publicly.
